These handcrafted sterling silver earrings combine modern sparkle with ancient coastal heritage. Each features a hand-textured 10mm silver ring with a beautifully detailed 7.5mm star crinoid fossil charm, made using fine silver clay and a reverse imprint technique. This creates the distinctive fossil star in raised relief, giving it a striking sculptural finish.

The fossil impression was taken from a genuine Cuddy bead (St. Cuthbert’s bead) found by the maker near Holy Island (Lindisfarne). Cuddy beads are fossilised segments of ancient crinoids, or “sea lilies”, and are particularly associated with Holy Island and its rich coastal heritage.

The textured rings catch the light beautifully, while secure silver stud fastenings make these earrings comfortable for everyday wear. Overall drop from the stud is 21mm.

A lovely piece of wearable coastal history, handmade in the Cowrie Craft studio.
