Silver Double Crinoid Fossil Earrings
Delicate and rich in coastal history, these handcrafted sterling silver earrings feature two sizes of crinoid fossil charms inspired by ancient sea life.
At the top is a petite 5mm round silver crinoid stud, with a tiny star at its centre. Suspended below is an 8mm silver crinoid fossil charm, made using fine silver clay and a mould taken from a real St. Cuthbert’s bead found by the maker on Holy Island (Lindisfarne). The larger fossil features a distinctive star-shaped opening at its centre.
Once fired, the clay becomes solid .999 fine silver, preserving the natural ridges and markings of the fossil.
St. Cuthbert’s beads, or Cuddy beads, are fossilised segments of ancient marine crinoids, long associated with Holy Island and its coastal folklore.
Lightweight and timeless, these earrings make a beautiful connection to the ancient North Sea coast.
