Sea glass codd marble, reversible heart or wave, sterling silver fidget necklace

Sea glass codd marble, reversible heart or wave, sterling silver fidget necklace

The perfect necklace for any ocean lover featuring a sea glass Codd marble that spins within a handcrafted and reversible Sterling Silver setting displaying either an ocean wave or a heart.

This sea glass marble found by the maker on the north east coast of England is a lovely shade of seafoam blue and it's beautifully frosted surface showcases unique C marks (characteristic of genuine sea glass).

This listing is for the smaller of the two codd marble necklace ONLY, not the other two necklaces in the video and photos.

The recycled sterling silver setting,  initially expertly carved in wax then sandcast in silver with delft clay, reflects a lengthy yet rewarding artisanal process. Showcasing an ocean wave on one side and a heart on the other, this necklace's original design allows the marble to spin within, creating a delightful fidget spinner effect.

The necklace suspends securely from an 18 inch sterling silver belcher chain which has a lovely weight to it (thicker than most other necklaces on my website) and has a lobster clasp fastening.

The codd marble has a diameter of 17mm and the length of the silver casing from the top of the double bail to the bottom of the setting is 32mm.

  • Size

18" 2.5mm belcher sterling silver chain with lobster clasp

Seaglass has a diameter of 17mm and it hangs 32mm from the chain

  • What is sandcasting?

Sandcasting is an ancient technique which dates back 3500 years but the more modern practice of using Delft Clay instead (which I use) was invented by a Dutch Goldsmith named Hans Karremen.

The delft clay is so fine, it produces a really detailed casting, perfect for my favourite lucky cowrie shells. The shell is sandwiched between two cylinders of delft clay then removed creating a cavity into which the molten silver is poured.
